Hand‑cutting together with machine sewing, including cutting trims such as boning, takes 1.5‑2 days. The remaining six days are entirely manual work. After three consecutive days of intensive handwork, physical strain sets in and a full rest day is required, before completing the final three days of hand‑making. The full production cycle of this garment totals nine days. ・
Thirty‑nine strands run from the left shoulder and another thirty‑nine from the right, threading through both front and back of the garment, amounting to 156 strands in total. Shoulders are fixed‑seam anchor points. Woven mesh panels are first constructed separately for front and back. Threads feed through dedicated internal channels within the waist corset, travelling from above the waist down to the hip region, where multiple exit openings are arranged. Only after threads emerge below the hips does the four‑strand braiding begin. Each section is braided, followed by a gap, then two strands from the left side interlace with two strands from the right. This repeats downwards to form an overall net‑like structure. All threading and shaping adjustments are carried out exclusively with tweezers, and this entire weaving process can only start once the main garment body is fully finished. =
This complex handwork can only be done by the designer. External artisans cannot anticipate the final appearance of the braids. Furthermore, since every piece is hand‑crafted by me, subtle differences in woven details compared to reference images are inherent qualities of this hand‑made piece. Constant real‑time adjustments are necessary throughout production. While working on this garment, nearly all other projects must be set aside. ・
This piece is archived, not discontinued. Mass‑order production would drain all my energy and leave no space for other creations. Such deeply personal handwork cannot be simply measured against market prices. It will never be mass‑produced. Thank you for exploring deeply enough to arrive at this page; I am willing to make one for you. It shares fabrics with selected pieces from Collection One. Its substantial pricing comes partly from the opportunity cost of putting aside all other work for days on end, and partly from this extremely time‑intensive, complex manual process.
Beyond technique, this piece carries a narrative. It continues the story of the young girl who achieved early success: what lies beyond reaching a milestone? +
The interwoven netting across the garment embodies tangled thoughts. Distinct weaving directions on front, back and hem mirror conflicting inner voices. Once you reach a milestone in life, what choice will you make? Will you stay within familiar, mastered territory and repeat the successes you have already earned, or step away to embrace entirely unfamiliar new challenges? =
You do not have to purchase this garment. It exists only to pose a question for your reflection, not to force you toward any conclusion. −
